Gas Turbine Inlet Air Cooling Solution
Today, with the increasing power demand, together with regulation to increase power plant efficiency and reduce carbon emissions mean that the installed gas turbine power plant capacity is forecast to grow at an average Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.5% across Asia.
With this accelerated demand for electricity, the industry has turned to gas turbine generators as a practical and efficient solution, recognizing gas turbine generators are the most environmentally-friendly way to generate electricity using a fossil fuel.
Petrindo offers Gas Turbine Inlet Air Cooling (GTIAC), also known as Turbine Inlet Air Cooling (TIAC) and Turbine Inlet Cooling (TIC), as a cost-effective solution to meet the growing demand for power without adding more generators. Adding new generators is capital intensive and can involve long permitting periods, so a better strategy is to enhance the output of existing generators. Cooling the air entering the gas turbine can recover the performance of a gas turbine that has been degraded by high ambient temperatures. The most consistently successful method of GTIAC is mechanical cooling. It delivers the increased cooling capacity and consistency required to obtain optimal output. Operating at the relatively constant conditions extends the life of the turbine and can help lower maintenance costs. Our partner, Johnson Controls is the only chiller manufacturer packaging their own GTIAC solutions comprising of:
- YORK® centrifugal and absorption chillers
- Packaged YORK chiller GTIAC systems
- Pre-packaged YORK chiller GTIAC systems
This technology can enhance power output By up to 30% and efficiency by up to 4% at a fraction of the cost of a new gas turbine generator. Johnson Controls was the first to have their York chillers deployed in a GTIAC application in the early 1990s in USA. Now, they can be found at the heart of inlet air cooling systems in power plants worldwide.
Petrindo is the authorized distributor of Johnson Controls GTIAC
Johnson Controls GTIAC benefit:
